Foundation’s Global Benefactor receives Order of Canada
Published: 1 Jul 2015
Global Benefactor of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation, Margaret (Maggie) Fountain, has been appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in the Canada Day Honours List.
The Order of Canada is one of the country’s highest civilian honours, given to individuals in recognition of their dedication and service to the nation. For a great number of years, Maggie has generously given her time to philanthropy, community service and volunteerism.
Global philanthropy
Well known for her support of the arts, healthcare and education, Maggie has served on many boards and supports a number of organisations in Canada and beyond.
In 2012, Maggie became the Foundation’s Global Benefactor, the highest status within our donor categories. Maggie’s very generous support has enabled us to deliver a number of initiatives that have helped extend the Award to more young people around the world.
Honours
Maggie has previously received many honours and medals for her unstinting support of organisations like the Foundation, including the Queen's Jubilee medal. She now joins over 6,000 others who have been invested into the Order of Canada since its creation.
