Global Alumni Network Officer
Reports To: Director responsible for Global Alumni Network
Length of Contract: Fixed term contract for 12 months
Closing date for applications: 18 October 2019
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation drives and supports the Award’s global growth, so more young people can undertake the world’s leading youth achievement award.
Working through our network of Award Operators in more than 130 countries and territories, we are creating new ways and places for young people to do the Award, using innovative online tools. We lead the Award’s entry into new countries and territories, ensuring consistency around the world. We work to increase global awareness of the value of non-formal education. This in turn creates demand for the Award, which is one way that young people’s development outside the classroom can be recognised worldwide.
The Foundation launched the Global Award Alumni Network (GAAN) initiative in November 2018 and the development of the GAAN is well underway. With the GAAN initiative, the Foundation aims to provide added value for the existing local alumni structures and encourage forming of new structures in those countries where there is no such provision for Award alumni as yet. In line with these aims, this role will work closely with Local Alumni Groups (LAGs), which may either be independent structures or directly managed by National Award Operators (NAOs). For the 12-month period of this role, the work will involve supporting these LAGs to join the global network through signing up to a common set of terms and conditions and a corresponding digital platform.
This role will manage the digital alumni engagement platform, alumni-focused social media channels and other digital initiatives and support the development of engaging, inspiring digital and social content that is relevant to Award alumni. You will have a fundamental understanding of how social media works, excellent writing skills and preferably some experience in marketing.
Global Alumni Network Officer role can be based anywhere, where the Foundation is able to make employment arrangements through a third-party provider, such as a National Award Operator. The applicants should have working permit in the country where they will be based during the term of this role.
Who we are looking for
