Our Global Benefactor

We are delighted that Margaret (Maggie) Fountain CM has joined us as Global Benefactor for the Award.

Maggie Fountain, Global Benefactor of The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award pictured with Award holders in the UKMaggie and her husband David live happily in Halifax, Nova Scotia with their daughter Gwyneth, two cats and a dog. Maggie generously gives her time to philanthropy, community service and volunteerism. She has served on many boards and committees and supported a number of organisations nationally and internationally. Well known in Nova Scotia for her support of the Arts, Maggie is also active in education and health care. She has received many honours and medals, including the Queen's Jubilee medal.

Maggie currently serves on the Board of Governors of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University, The National Arts Centre Foundation and recently joined the Advisory Board of the Talent Fund for Telefilm Canada.

Maggie became The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation’s Global Benefactor in 2012, the highest status within our donor categories, and has made possible a number of International Award initiatives in this time.
